Case Studies.

Here are just some of our case studies....

Aid for Fire-Ravaged Businesses.

Communities that had been damaged and destroyed by bushfires needed help getting back on their feet. With so many rural businesses being small and family owned, the fires hit these communities particularly hard.

Our job was to provide the public sector client with strategic advisory services to support the establishment of a small business hub, including a co-working space, event space, shared meeting rooms and facilities, and the necessary digital infrastructure.

We worked with industry organisations, local and state government, industry influencers and the affected business owners. We determined their needs and developed both short term strategies to help the businesses quickly recover, and longer-term strategies to help them re-establish and pivot their businesses to find new markets. We also looked at options to help the communities provide their own sustainable solutions.

With our recommendations implemented, small businesses in bushfire affected areas are now supported to recover from the impacts of bushfires on their business continuity.

The Sports Organisation.

A major sports organisation wanted to make significant program changes, and needed support in the areas of change management and stakeholder engagement.

The greatest challenge lay in bringing the stakeholders along on the journey, as they are both disparate and passionate about the sport.

We listened, and then provided strategic advice to the board and the CEO, and developed and implemented communication and stakeholder engagement plans based on data-driven insights.

As an outcome, change is being successfully driven in this traditional sporting environment. Key elements in this success have been the consistent, clear change management approach, supported by strong communications and engagement.

The ICT Client.

One ICT client was faced with changing customer needs, increasing budget pressures, and ageing infrastructure, all topped with a complex purchasing environment which included sub-optimal vendor arrangements and misaligned resources.

We were engaged to review the business support functions and make recommendations on possible delivery models that focussed on prudent procurement outcomes and optimised vendor relationships.

Our business case recommended the establishment of a new division to provide sustainable support in building business capability and enabling a planned approach to deal with changing business needs over the following three years.

Now, the client organisation is realising the benefits of these dedicated resources, and more broadly is streamlining its operational processes to enable scale-up to cope with increasing demand.

The Asset Rich Client.

Our client needed to upgrade the management of their $11 billion asset base.

We commenced a functional review of business units to look at the options for amalgamation or outsourcing current functions.

Our recommendations covered options for future service delivery, including sustainable ways to address future requirements, delivery against strategic directions, processes, workflows, structure, capabilities and skill gaps.

The business case mapped a pathway to transform end-to-end service delivery into a fully outsourced model that would be sustainable, increase the quality of performance and make cost savings.

The Government Department.

Machinery of Government changes meant a new State Government department needed to be established, and we were engaged to help make that happen as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

We assisted in establishing the new department’s functions, resources and responsibilities, with a focus on maximising available resources, maintaining business continuity and high-quality service delivery, and managing risks.

First, we redefined the corporate services delivery model and benchmarks for service delivery.

Then we re-oriented policy parameters, and developed strategic directions. And finally, we aided in the transfer of functions, resources and responsibilities from other departments, and negotiated with other departments on service level agreements.

Alongside this, we developed and implemented a change strategy to bring employees along on the journey. Key success factors for the overall program of work were the early establishment of governance and the application of robust project management methodologies to support the governance and monitor and report on progress.

At every step there was open communication and engagement with stakeholders and clients to minimise business disruption, bring them along on the journey, and provide the best channels for interacting with Government.
